The services that the League of Friends offer Torbay Hospital are:
Butterflies Café in the Outpatients’ Department, Level 2 (Zone A - Navy Blue) is open from 9.30am to 4.30pm Monday to Friday and sells a wide selection of hot and cold drinks, hot and cold snacks, cakes and confectionery.
The League of Friends offers a trolley service selling hot and cold drinks, snacks, cakes and confectionery. The trolley service visits patients and staff in the Hospital and Outpatients Department from 9.30am to 12 noon Monday to Friday.
League of Friends Guides are based at the League Desk in the reception area of the Outpatients’ Department level 2 and also in A&E. They offer a ‘meet and greet’ / guiding service to help patients, visitors and also staff to find their way throughout the hospital. They are available 9am to 4pm Monday to Friday. They can be easily identified by their blue uniform with the League of Friends logo.
The Linen League make items unable to be sourced elsewhere e.g. capes for the Breast Care Unit, children’s gowns and staff tabards for Louisa Cary Ward being a few of the many items made by them. They meet every Tuesday afternoon from 2pm to 4pm.
All of the above roles are filled by volunteers, each working for one or more mornings or afternoons every week on a regular basis. There are currently about 120 volunteers working with the Torbay Hospital League of Friends.
