Services

Patients with suspected cancer can be seen in speciality clinics within 2 weeks of the GP making a referral.

The Cancer Support Team aims to complement treatment by promoting physical, social, psychological and spiritual well-being, to enhance and maximise quality of life. This may include giving information, symptom control, welfare advice or emotional and spiritual guidance. The teams support is available to anyone diagnosed with Cancer, during and after treatment, and is not limited to Palliative Care.

The Trust offers a specialist Palliative Care Service.

In the Hospital

The Palliative Care Team works as a consultative service within the hospital. Patients are seen at any stage of their illness and irrespective of diagnosis.

The Centre offers the following services:

  • Drop-in and telephone support and information, internet access
  • Benefits advice
  • Complementary therapies - massage, aromatherapy and reflexology
  • Relaxation classes
  • Genetic advice
  • Wig fitting
  • Food and nutrition workshops
  • Macmillan patient grants

Specialist Palliative Care Services are also provided by the Rowcroft Hospice.
