Services

All breast problems can be dealt with, whether from screening, family history or symptomatic. Rapid (triple) assessment clinics take place at the refurbished Torbay Breast Unit and results are given within five days.

Home consultation can be arranged through the Breast Care Office. Surgery can be performed in the Day Surgery Unit and inpatients are accommodated on McCallum Ward. Breast reconstruction is provided in liaison with the Plastic Surgeon.

Location

Torbay Hospital's Breast Care Unit is in a separate building, away from the main hospital block.

Parking is available (for patients with appointments) immediately outside the unit. Directions: from the Cadewell Lane entrance to the hospital site, ignore the first left (to Outpatients) and where the road bears left, take the right hand fork. Follow the road almost to the end. As the road opens out into a small parking area you will see the Breast Care Unit immediately ahead. The building is shown in green on the site map:

In addition to Torbay, we have regular clinics at Newton Abbot, Totnes, Paignton and Dartmouth.

The Breast Care Nursing Service

The Breast Care Nursing Service provides a support and information service for both inpatients and outpatients. Other support services include reflexology and aromatherapy. This service is based in the Breast Care Unit at Torbay Hospital 01803 655634.

Breast Screening

The screening service automatically invites women registered with practices between the ages of 50 to 70 years. The service operates over a 36 month continual rolling programme.
